Once the woman finds her way back to the USA, I've got to talk her into traveling somewhere for pleasure this Fall/Winter.

It might actually have been sunken by then. This boat will be off the coast of Texas just out of Port Isabel. Viz should be about 75 to 100 that time of year for that area.

Dave Dewhirst from my local dive club (indyrealtor@realtor.com) is taking deposits.

From the charter operator:

The $575.00 price quote includes a Thursday night departure, dive all day Friday, Saturday, and ½ day Sunday. The number of dives is related directly to the group. In the winter months groups average 4-6 per day.

On the last day we plan for two dives. The wreck of the “Baja California” and the L-Tower.

There are electrical outlets throughout the entire boat and bunk-rooms. The bunks are not one big room, but we do not have any private rooms either. In the bow, at the bottom of the stairs are two bunks, then there is a door with six. In the stern, at the bottom of the stairs there are four bunks (larger), two different openings with four bunks each. Each bunk has a privacy curtain.

Alternatively we could do a Fort Lauderdale / Keys bonzai dive trip.... know cheap hotels and operators so we can stretch the dollar. This also would be a long weekend of some kind too. About the same cost as the liveaboard I would think.

I'd recommend West Palm Beach, FL and diving with Pura Vida Divers. Granted, the seas are rough that time of year, but the ocean life is amazing.

Actually, it will be more likely a Truk/Palau trip as for the diving there, they offer 8 days of diving.

8 days might be good. Scheduling is really the major concern. A lot will be changing in DC area around that time. I don't forsee us able to be able to take off 2 full weeks for many years, but 8-10 days total could happen.

That's almost a year after the honeymoon. We might be up for trip by then. We'd probably have to skip the Feb ski trip that year.

Such a toss up: big cool dive trip with great people vs. saving for big garage to store cool dive stuff & my truck - maybe even Dan's :confused:

It'll take me until the wedding next June to finish getting this house upgraded then a year or two to enjoy our efforts. Might be able to squeeze in a big cool dive trip before we try to acquire that big garage......

I think Dan needs to start hookin so we can afford everything I'd like to spend $$ on;)

2 days to get there and recover + 8 days to dive + 2 days to get home + 2 days to recover after that = 14 days away from workwork and housework. March is generally crappy in Indy anyway. Sounds good to me!
