I have odered a new dry suit & will be joining the ranks of the dry suit divers in about a week and a half, after taking a specialty course to learn to use the suit safely. It will hopefully allow me to extend my diving season and begin it earlier in the year. Just about the only thing to stop me at this point will be ice, as I have no overhead dive training, yet.

Congrats!
Like someone mentioned the other day... don't let them talk/convince you into using the suit for buoyancy! Just enough air to keep the undies lofted and warm!

Yes ~ Dry is the way to go.
Congrats on your purchase.
Once you get use to being dry and staying warm in colder water you will love it.

funny thing is, when diving a single tank and properly weighted, adding air to loft the undergarment is all that l need for buoyancy....YMMV

What undies do you wear Kevin?

l have Mobby thinsulate400 l think...l also keep the exhaust on the drysuit fully open...so when l'm overweighted, like l was when slinging my AL40, the air just pours out the thing, and at that point started using the wing for buoyancy...l'm gonna try rigging a couple 4 lb weights thru the bottom of my harness to eliminate my weight belt totally

Bob's right. I was told initially to use it for buoyancy and still have discussions with my instructor today about it as I only put enough air in there to look after the crown jewels. :D Some people use it for buoyancy but I don't.

Cold, I know you are diving dry basically year round - at least we have the luxury of diving wet once in a while. I even tried a 2/3mm up here this summer but it was a tad too cold for that after 40 minutes. :)

Kevinpro: I have gone over to tank weights so that I don't have weights other than on my backplate and tanks. It has made a BIG difference. With my doubles I don't need extra weight but when diving with singles, it is a great set up. Let us know how you come on with your new weight set up.
