Olympus 5050 auto focus problem

Recently got a backup Oly5050 used, but the autofocus isn't working.

Is there a setting somewhere for this, or is this likely a malfunctioning unit?

Check if the lens is dust and fingerprint free or it could be set to manual focus (top button where you select macro)

Just got back from a grocery trip, so I haven't dug it back out and stuck batteries in it yet.

A most excellent call! Thanks! There was a nasty looking adhesive-type smudge on the range finder lens.
