I have a chance to pick up a new Mares M1 for a pretty good price. Apparently a shop is closing out some of their equipment. There is no warrenty with it, which I find odd since a shop is closing it out, unless they came by it via gra market somehow themselves.

Anyway, that aside, if there were a recall on this product does anyone know if it would be covered? I understand and can accept other issues as that would be a risk I take if I decide to buy it, but something like that is a manufacturing issue. It would be no different then buying it second hand from someone, there is no warrenty doing that either.

Anyone know about that sort of thing, that is, recall issues if you are not the first owner.

Oh Yes I know there were some recall issues with the guage version back in 1994, but I think this is newer then that but can verify the serial number against those listed.

Email the manfacturer. You could always claim it was a gift. They don't need to know it's a "from me, to me" kind of gift.

Randy, thank you I saw that but that does not really answer my question. Even if it was a gift it would have "papers"

I actually think the model is

[THE MARES M1 RGBM MODEL IS NOT INVOLVED.]

I will need to check with the guy who is selling it for the dive shop, and of course get the serial numbers.

I looked on line and could not find any contact information for Mares, there is a distributors page, but I don't have enough information to search.

So the questions still stands if there does happen to be a recall on it and I am not the "registered" owner according to Mares is it covered? I can't seem to find a customer service contact for Mares, there does not seem to be one located on their web site.

BD ~ Keep us posted on what Mares has to say on this issue.
I know many of us have had the chance to purchase gear at killer prices.

I always wonder about this sort of thing.
Will the mfg cover warrenties if I am not the first buyer.

Good luck.

Mares said as long as you have the receipt and purchased it from an authorized dealer they will warranty it for 2 years. Well I am not going to have any of that stuff.

I sent a PM to the guy selling it asking why the dive shop he was selling for did not have that stuff, fair question.

With that said, I asked about the possability of a recall if I didn't have that stuff and they said it would be covered. For $125 I think it is a pretty good deal and it is brand new.

However when he showed it to me we could not figure out how to turn it on to see if it worked, I sent him off to find out...LOL, hopefully it is a battery issue.

If it actually works I am really considering it.

Just make sure you dont forget to check serial numbers, with that good of price, I just might be happy enough to accidentally forget to ask.
