Strange isn''t it that your carry on allowance is only 10# less than your checked luggage?!? That's fine, I can use the extra carry on weight for all the camera gear.

So to make things simple.. (Mapper brains like things basic.)
I can take 2 bags each up to 50 lbs.
I can also take 1 carry on up to 40 lbs.

I hope my stuff weights less than 140 lbs.
I had better get packed and see how much the stuff weights.

I guess I will have to STOP diving the week before I leave to give my BC enough time to dry out.

Dang it... I hate not being able to dive

ZD ~ Thanks for the update. I always forget that I can bring 2 carry on bags.
I just might have to find more stuff to bring. See if I can come close to my bag and weight limits. ::p:

Are you guys ready for this trip yet ? No one is screaming enough. Heck, I would be pacing the floors now, packing everything 3 times over. :)

Bob ~ No reason to panic..
Just have to make sure the dive gear is all in the bags.
Pack a beach towel, sunscreen, toothbrush, a few clothes, a few bathing suits.
Sunglasses, and a hat.
I think I will be good to go.

I do have one bag almost packed. Things I won't be needing between now and Utila. things like wet suit/shorty, snorkle.
(I must find more to put in the bag it only weights 25 lbs well below my allowable limits)

Hi All

Ok you all have me facinated, Myself and Jasmine both used to travel for business and for vacations diving, sometimes our dive vacations were for 3 weeks Jasmine was sometimes away on business for a month or 2.

In those days the maximum limit was 70lbs and on some airlines it was 50lbs in Europe, we have never got near the limits, even with all our dive equipment, all I can think is that if you are worried about luggage limits you must be bringing a lot of pressies for us lol

In fact I can remember when the luggage limit was 32lbs

Bob, my bags have been packed for 2 weeks. :) Today, I actually got off work early, came home, washed my truck....cleaned part of the garage...did some more shopping and then guess what I did? I UNPACKED everything, made out another list, and repacked everything again according to the list (by BlueDolphins standards). I am glad that I did. There were a couple of items that I had left off the list that didn't get packed....Everything but a few clothes (NOT CLOTHS :) Damir) is now packed and setting by the front door. I AM READY....in 5 and half more days, I'll be on the plane bound for paradise.

Actually according to Continental rep I spoke w/ on the phone...1 carry on 40 lbs...the other is a personal item...you are allowed 1 carry on and 1 personal item.............

but I know better....cause you probably have some special card..or permission or something...but I'm not originating out of Houston...so I'm not taking any chances

the only concern I have is that being there for 2 weeks that I have enough sunscreen, deet, baby oil, shampoo, conditioner...etc...that stuff.....the clothes I'm not worried about..........

Now how do they differenciate between a 'carry-on' and a personal item.....to me 1 + 1 = 2. :D

Yeah no doubt! This has always been a confusing thing to me. Here's the low-down from having traveled Continental (and other) airlines. The personal item is considered a ladies hand-bag or a laptop. These items should fit under the seat in front of you.
So if Di wants to bring a "large" ladies hand-bag in addition to a rolling bag...you are all good.

Sounds like I need to go buy a large ladies handbag.
If my grandmother was still alive I could just borrow one from her.
I swear you could live out of her "handbag" for at least a week.

I don't even want to think about Di's toys and if they will exceed the 26" limit

I don't even want to think about Di's toys and if they will exceed the 26" limit :ohmy:A really nice LARGE ladies handbag would be one of those canvas bags from Lands End with the zipper tops. Doubles as a beach bag:D . And you can stuff 'em to the gills with 40lbs of STUFF (aka chocolate and wine). I usually take a really small purse packed into my checked luggage and carry a bigger one on the plane. I have a nice red backpack purse. Very nice to give me some free hands for hauling around my wardrobe-on-wheels.::p:

I like to get my 'assistant' (daughter) to review my packing. She really helps out. She's a minimalist. Went to Japan for two weeks with one half empty "carryon" and a checked suitcase that was carryon size! The leader of the trip wanted to know where the rest of her luggage was. hehehe She's good.

Pue ~ You are correct. I will need to call on my assistant (daughter) to go thru my things and pull out all the stuff I only think I will need.
She has gone camping for a week and only needed one normal sized camping backpack. This was a several mile hike in trip. So she and her boyfriend packed it all in on their backs. Both took a single pack.

I am sure she will pull 1/2 my crap out of the bags and then roll her eyes at me.
Declaring that I just don't know how to pack.

I will have to go visit Lands End. I do have my back pack as a carry on. So the large purse is needed.
