Does anyone use the X-shorts I see different places?
I admit the look a little strange, but at the same time look really functional when diving a wetsuit.
Anyone used them?
Any "rules" about 'em??

I use them and I like them- or at least they fit my current needs.
In going from the standard bc to the backplate wings, I almost immediately noticed that I lacked pockets.
I could have bought pockets to attach to the wet suit, but I was juggling between a very old 1/4 farmer and a new 7m and didn't want to sink money into the 1/4 (though I liked it better than the 7m due to bouyancy characteristics) and didn't want to attach more money to the 7m that I hoped to not use all that often.
So the shorts allowed me to "add pockets" in a very streamlined fashion.
I have found them useful for going from the 3m, and the 7mm and when in tropical waters work fine over trunks, and now I use them over the dry suit. Had I bought pockets and attached them to everything it would have cost much more than the shorts...
I'm about ready to attach pockets to the dry suit, but keep getting by with what I have...
even if they do look a little different over my blue wet suit and dry suit, they work well.
All that said I did have a pocket blow out on one side. I was able to get it fixed without a problem and have had no other problems. Like them so much I contemplated getting a second pair, but reality stuck and I put the money towards other things.
Pockets are ample sized, I typically have 2 spools and a mask in one and there's room for more stuff if needed.
So I'm a rule 6 violation, I've come to live with that in most aspects of my life, even before I new that it was a "rule". roflmao (and over a black wetsuit/drysuit I don't think they would stand out at all)

Another alternative to X-Shorts is X-pockets.

These are a pocket that has a loop at top of the pocket that goes over your waist belt, and then at the lower part of the pocket is velcro that fastens around your leg. They are an easy "portable" solution. I've used them when cave diving in Mexico to give me a pocket in a rented wetsuit. Penny has borrowed mine for her cave class.
Two of our supporting business members here carry the X-pockets (that I'm aware of).
The best solution is to attach pockets to your drysuit... if you had one... :D

Bob, thanks for posting an alternative. I appreciate that.
What I don't appreciate is your not so subtle attempt to make me feel badly because I don't (yet) have a drysuit. Well, lemmie tell you Mr. WB. I'm not falling for it. I'm taking the moral high ground in this and am ignoring your comment altogether.
(but I do like those pockets) :D

Crawling out of a hole and standing on a bump in the road doesn't count as "high moral ground", but thanks for playing!! roflmao

(but I do like those pockets) :DComment on the pockets. While they do work well, and do the job, I found that it was another piece of equipment to put on. It requires a decent amount of adjustment to get them positioned correctly. I'd actually find the shorts to be the lesser of the two evils. But I think permanent pockets are the way to go. I'm gonna get some in put on in May, I hope!!

So Dave, what about size? what size do you have of these shorts?
Oh and Dave, ignore some of the other posters in this thread, they're only causing trouble. They're like that.

sorry not sure on the size I went with- - I'll check them tonight when I get home.
No need to apologize Randy, I've come to accept your posts with a grain of salt.
ohhh
you mean the other people.
ok well ummm
then again
back to the subject of the building of cannister lights for team consistency and extras for budddies
hmmm now I am at a loss as to what to :D say
**EDIT** I looked up some of my old e-mails with brandon and scott and I believe I have a size "large". The sizing chart on the website is pretty accurate if I remember correctly.
ohh If you can hold off until we dive you are welcome to try these out, not sure when we will cross paths to dive together though. Maybe april 29th? but I'm not sure how free I'll be that weekend...

Big.
Really big.
Actually, I would just look at some sizing charts for the ones you're looking at purchasing since Dave's would be of a different brand(I think). The fit of one would not be the same as another. One size does not fit all.
And no, you can't try his on!
(Dave, just thought I'd cover that before he asks. You know he'd ask.)

Thanks for checking the size for me.
As a side note, I see you've let certain undesirable people influence your thinking and have made you afraid to post what you REALLY think. Shame on 'em!
Don't let them bother you. I know where they keep their scooter(s) and will be happy to put a notch in their scooter gaskets if they get too far outta line. :evil_4:

then again, about one, maybe two bites and they'd have the entire box gone.. I mean the ENITIRE box..
Hey Randy,
I have a pair of X-Shorts too. Got them when I used to dive in an archaic thing called a wetsuit. :D
Seriously, I really like them and still use them when diving wet. Mine are either L or XL (I can check tonight and let you know) I did make one change to mine that helped a lot. I pulled out the drawstring and replaced it with 3/16" bungee cut to length and tied. Now I just slip them on and off, no tying, untying or adjusting a depth.
